Patrick Gabriel Aiona Sr., 71, of Hilo died July 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was president of Aiona Car Sales, a member of Hawaii Automobile Dealers Association, Rotary Club of South Hilo, Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce, Piihonua Homestead Community Association, Young Men’s Institute and multiple Catholic Churches in East Hawaii. Alice (Ah Choy) De Luz, 93, of Paauilo died June 20 at home. Born in North Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Darrel Dee “Dee Dee” Chiemi Okimura, 69, of Kailua-Kona, formerly of Hilo, died Feb. 7 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was an office clerk for Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay and Kona Bay hotels, a member of the vocal groups Sing Out Hilo and Up with People in the mid-1970s and a longtime volunteer with the Ironman Triathlon. Wanette Momilani Ramos, 65, of Hawi died June 19 in San Antonio. Born in Kohala, she was a homemaker and caregiver, and attended Gospel of Salvation Church.
